*** Robin Snow ***

At the end of March, snow is no longer called snow in my little patch of the world, it's called Robin Snow.  Yes, the robins are hopping about in the garden and there are big floppy snow flakes falling from the sky.  They are big and wet and then small and fly around in every direction possible.
So whilst the Robin Snow fell, I enjoyed my day in my new (to me) chair...

...hand stitching away a new little quilt...

...and enjoying episode after episode of Miss Fisher on Netflix. Thoroughly enjoying the images this fabulous show provides and getting just a little homesick.

P.S. Yes, I know this show was filmed in Melbourne, a place which I once lived for a short while, but those images of beautiful old Australian houses remind me so much of home.

This Week.......

Sometimes I like to use this blog to document the changes of the seasons. I guess a blog is a bit like an old fashioned diary. It's nice to go back and see what was happening this time last year.  I was surprised to see the weather is doing the same thing this year!

This week we've had....

:: snow on Monday ::

:: and more snow ::

:: today we had sunshine ::

:: which helped our seedlings grow ::

 :: I stitched a friend for my cat ::

:: finished the stitching on my little quilt ::
(I love it!)

:: found some fabulous new/old stitchery ::

 :: pretty spring-like flowers ::

:: added a little spring bunny to the mantle ::

:: squealed at the site of my daffodils ::

Happy first day of Spring!

It looks like the seasons are changing and Spring is on it's way!
Finally

Yippee!!

Sunday Stitching - Little Ta Dah!

Hello!  Happy Sunday!

My lovely boss a.k.a. my  best friend gave me these two teeny tiny bear kits she had bought some 24 years ago and never made.

The penny shows the scale of the bear - TINY - in fact the picture of the bear in the kit photo is actually bigger than the finished bear.  The kit includes the fuzzy fabric, ribbon, thread and the tiniest needle ever so you have everything to make your bear.

I started with the ballerina bear, hoping it would be easiest with white fabric and white thread.  So far making the bear wasn't too bad, but believe me, it's tiny. Threading the needle was a challenge and cutting out the tiny pieces proved tricky.  Little bear is at most 2 inches tall, maybe smaller.

Here's my bear next to a standard size reel of reel of thread.

Isn't she tiny?  And very sweet.

I haven't made her tutu yet, just giving my eyes a chance to recover from all those small stitches.  Parts of her were made inside out and then turned, like her body and head, but the arms and legs I whipped stitched right side out.

My boss said to bring her over to her fathers house so he could tie the bow on her head!  He's 82 years old and apparently can do magic with tweezers to make tiny bows.  Can't wait to see that happen.

Little bear only took two evenings to complete along with a bucket load of patience, but I really enjoyed this make and can't wait to start on the bee!

Hope you've had a wonderful weekend stitching!

:: Power-Free ::

After a scheduled day off work due to a day without electricity (love the fact our power company actually warned me in advance and that I can't work at home with no power) I enjoyed a few hours of hand stitching in total silence.

It was blissful.

I had planned to spend the day knitting, but after finishing up my wibbly wobbly quilt I decided to continue with some machine free stitching.

Unfortunately, thanks to blogger, whom I now officially despise (I'd say the 'h' word, but saying it is one thing, typing it seems entirely too harsh, but I'm tempted), it's not entirely clear what it is. I didn't edit these photos and I didn't taken them sideways either, but blogger has decided to rotate them all (except the last one.  Now I'm tempted to say the 'b' word, not blogger, the one that sort of rhymes with faster, in fact I have, but I won't type it.

Anyway...it's a needle case!!!

Every single tiny square inch of it stitch by hand.

I was grinning from ear to ear when I finished it, but now I'm not, no names Blogger mentioned.

It has to be one of my favorite makes of all time.

For once I might thank the power company for scheduling me a little day off the grid!

Happy Tuesday Folks!

Wibbly Woobly....Oops

There are times when I just don't know when to quit. Of course getting started is more of the problem these days, but once I do some days I just don't know when my mind has gone to bed, but my hands still want to keep stitching.

Which explains this rather sweet, although incredibly wonky tiny quilt which I decided to start at quarter to nine last night.

It looks less wonky if I turn it 90 degrees to the left, but unfortunately no matter how many times I edit the photo, blogger likes its original format.

Anyhow, it's little, just 12 inches squarish (well it would be square if I hadn't been so tired and my pesky beloved Bernina hadn't been so temperamental too) and I l♥ve it.  Little quilts which come together quickly and allow me a few minutes of hand stitching have to be my favorite.

Happy Monday lovely readers!  I hope wherever you are the sun is shining and this new week treats to you well!

Toodles...L x ♥

P.S. I'll be back tomorrow with more hand stitching, although less wonky. ☺

Quilting and Scanning

 Solving the late night, no light photo taking dilemma - scanning!
Yes!  I put these little coasters on my scanner and I think it worked out quite well.
Of course I haven't figured out why blogger won't let me make my photos bigger, only the first one. I used to be able to make them all larger, but not anymore. Anyway, you can click on them to make them bigger and enjoy my homespun wobbly quilting skills.  ☺

Late night crochet when sleep just doesn't happen.

I guess it's making the most of a bad situation and loving it.
