Finish :: First for 2014

After thinking about it for weeks, I decided right between Christmas and New Year that my Tea Leaves Cardigan was just too big, so I unraveled it.  It actually felt good to unravel it rather than look at it the closet and wish it wasn't so big.  I loved the yarn, so soft and warm and I found this pattern and decided that I loved the pattern, but the yarn was totally wrong.
Of course I went for it anyway.  :o)
I took no time at all to come together, in fact I think the process of trying to get the Mister to take a decent photo took longer than it did to crochet this little vest.  Love the man, but he is totally crap at taking photos.  Trust me when I say it looks better in real life.  I made a couple of adjustments to the pattern, mostly adding some increases under the arms to accommodate my ever expanding boobage (that will teach me for wishing like mad when I was 15 for bigger boobs!)  Anyway, I love it.  Super easy, super fast, super warm.

Speaking of warm, it's been brrrr freezing here the last few days.  School was cancelled yesterday, not for the 2 inches of snow we had but because the thermostat struggled to get above zero.

I hope things are much warmer where you are!

  1. Looks lovely and cosy. Sometimes an extra layer without the nuisance and bulk of sleeves is just what is needed. Hope it warms up a bit for you - here it is not the cold but the wet that is the problem!

  2. Gosh it would have broken my heart unpicking that cardigan, but you now have something you obviously love more. lovely colours, great start for 2014. Its cold here but we have dodged the winds which are on the other side of the country.

  3. The cardigan was lovely, but as you say a bit on the large side.
    I know what you mean about wishing for larger boobs when you are young, I dreamed of having larger boobs (I was a 34B) How I wish I had my younger size now.
    I had breast cancer when I was 47 and lost a portion of one breast. After 10 years I plucked up the courage to have a breast reduction on the other side. I was so concious of the size difference. Size wise much better now but still a 34F. Be careful what you wish for ;0)

  4. Hi Louise I love this top for two things - one the colour is divine and will cross between any season of the year and two because it is so versatile in that it can be used in the winter with something under it and in the summer. You are so good to pull something out as I wouldn't have the heart I am ashamed to say, it just shows what you can do when you rethink a project as you have done. Keep warm lovely Louise, loved this post and always look forward to reading your super blog. Big hugs

  5. Such a nice,easy project. It looks good on you and like you say it's better now than see it everyday in your closet. I have some clothes like this in my closet and maybe now I take the time to unravel like you did. Happy new year to you and your family.
