Nonsense Weather

This is not a weather blog.
However, the weather has gone a little bonkers.
Today we had blizzard like snow.
Sideways, Upwards, Round in a Circle and down at lightening speed snow.
Monday we had a ice storm of mega proportions.
It was magical, but incredibly slippery.
I was glad they closed school and didn't have to leave the house.
Instead I stayed home and worried myself silly about poor Big J started his first day of work!
My lovely, although slightly odd looking hyacinth has enjoyed it all from the safety of the window ledge.
Can you believe January is already over?
2013 is whizzing by too fast for my liking....

Today is not Friday!

I've spent the entire day thinking today was Friday.
But it's not.
The weather confused me.
It is supposed to snow on Friday.
But it snowed today.
And therefore I was confused.
Day + Snow = Friday
So I am blaming the weatherman.

Things have been fairly quite here at Castle Gephart (actually it's been freezing here, minus temperatures, 2 hour school delays, so perhaps it is Igloo Gephart?).  I've been clicking away at my cardigan on my lunch break and hooking away at my blanket before nodding off in the evening.  Sunday morning however saw me rise bright and squirly for some stitching....

I made a mad dash this evening, leaving the men folk to burn the dinner themselves, to the fabric store for fabric...but came home instead with a book.
WOW!  Can you believe my little cheapo scanner made such a wonderful photo of my new book?
I can't.
Anyway, at 40% off I could hardly pass it up.
So while the boys mastered the art of pikelet making....
I perused it's pages.  It's a good one.  Buy it if you see it.  The cover is just a tiny peak of the fabulousness inside. Fantastic little things to make with wonderful instructions.

Supposedly a Mickey Mouse pikelet....hmmm...sort of.
Anyway, I'm  now relieved of my 'after dinner pikelet making duties' which have been in high demand this week. Big J has the task fully mastered. So I can spend more time pinning and stitching!

What have you been up to?
Is the weather been treating you kindly?
Do you have snow or heat?
Do you like pikelets too?

Sunny Sunday

The weather here has been fabulous.  The snow is nearly all gone and it has been feeling a bit, dare I say, spring-like.  Even my daffodils are peeping through.  A bit early it seems.
The postman was very kind to me on Thursday last week.
A delicious bundle of raspberry yarn which I found on Etsy being sold for steal by this lovely shop owner.  Absolutely fabulous service and speedy delivery.
Of course I spent my lunch break on Thursday quickly casting on a new cardi! Just a simple top down raglan, nothing fancy. No hanging around for me, even though I've just started a fabulous granny  blanket.
Must be off.  I've had a brilliant day working on my cardigan, now I need to go hook a few squares.

P.S. the yarn for my blanket came from here.  I've not used this type of yarn before, but it is incredibly soft and very economical. It is called King Cole Pricewise and it has loads of fabulous colours.

Happy New Year!
The new year has gotten off to a very quiet start here.  I'm back at work now and wishing the holidays would never end, but enjoying the snow still outside my window while I work.
I stopped by Tabiboo yesterday and was inspired by her post to be courageous.  I used to be very brave, very much my own person.  I have found lately that I would rather shy away more and more from being 'me' and try too hard to blend in with the shadows, not be noticed.
I need to be courageous and with the New Year I plan to try very hard to have more courage and be brave.
I've had a very productive day today, for a Sunday.  I tend to spend my Sunday's moping about too much with the dreaded thought of work on Monday.  Of course only to realize I would waste the day!  Before 10am today I had made beds, washed floors, dishes and clothes, made sausage rolls and started sewing a new dress.  The dress is finished, but the light is terrible and although I love it, its not much more than a gunny sack.  Comfortable and that's about it.
It seems blogger is not going to cooperate anymore today. I had plans to share with you a lost embroidery I found at the bottom of the washing basket and my new woolly project, but blogger thinks otherwise.  Oh well.
It's dark here now and I'm trying to keep my productivity going till the end of the day. I'm off to rummage through my yarn stash.
I hope the New Year is treating you well so far.
